HISTORY

Whitesands Volleyball Club has been providing quality volleyball training since 1993. Founded by Bobbie Dean as an outlet for volleyball players to train during the off-season, Whitesands is still enjoying success under new leadership. Whitesands was the first, and is the longest operating volleyball club in the Sarasota/Bradenton area. Since the founding of Whitesands, three other club associations in  Sarasota have developed, one being the direct offspring of Whitesands Volleyball Club.

In 2004, Bobbie Dean retired from volleyball. Whitesands was left to the leadership of current director Ruth Montgomery, an FHSAA official and former high school varsity coach, and Jeff La Liberte, the former varsity volleyball coach at Booker High School in Sarasota.

Since it’s founding in 1993, seventy-five Whitesands players have gone on to play college volleyball. In addition, fourteen Whitesands Alumni are currently coaching in college and high schools.

Coaches at Whitesands Volleyball Club volunteer time. We are trying to make volleyball as affordable as possible for young players. Our goal is to provide young athletes the opportunity to develop self-discipline, dedication, self-confidence, and an understanding of leadership!
