RUTH MONTGOMERY (Director) Ruth Montgomery has played volleyball since moving to
Sarasota. Ruth played professional beach volleyball during the 1970’s.
With the birth of her daughter, Kendyl, in 1987, Ruth began coaching as
the varsity coach at Cardinal Mooney High School. Ruth has been a
high school volleyball official since 1981 and a USAV certified referee
since 1996. Currently, Ruth serves on the board of directors
for Gulf Coast Referees. She has coached with Whitesands since 1994 and
is a CAP I certified coach. |
| KENDYL MONTGOMERY (Coach) Coach Kendyl Montgomery, daughter of Coach Ruth Montgomery, brings a lot of volleyball experience to Whitesands in her third year as a coach. Coach Montgomery began playing volleyball for Whitesands at age nine. Prior to, and during high school, Coach Montgomery played for the Whitesands 14’s, 15’s, 16’s, 17’s, and 18’s elite teams. Coach Montgomery was a four-year member of the Booker High School varsity volleyball team. During her high school career she was named to the 4A All-State Second-Team during her junior and senior years. After high school, Montgomery considered playing volleyball in college, and was recruited, but decided to utilize an academic scholarship. She is a recent graduate of the University of South Florida, where she recieved her B.S. in secondary English education. While in college, Montgomery spent three years operating tournament logistics for the Orlando Volleyball Academy (OVA). She is following her mother’s footsteps as a referee for AAU and USAV on the weekends her team doesn’t play. |
Karly Szczpanski (Coach) Karely Scczpanski begins her third
year as a coach with Whitesands this year. Karley got her start
in
volleyball at Bradenton Christian School in 7th and 8th grade.
During her freshman year, Karley transfered to Lakewood Ranch High
School. While at Lakewood Ranch HS, Karley played two years of JV
volleyball, and two years of varsity volleyball. Karley's
association with Whitesands began during her ninth grade year.
She played three consecutive years with Whitesands, two under Coach
LaLiberte, and one with Coach Montgomery, mainly as a setter and
DS. Karley is currently a student at Manatee Community College
She plans on majoring in Secondary Education. We are
happy to have Karley carry on the Whitesands tradition with pride! |

JEFF LALIBERTE (Webmaster) Jeff La Liberte has played volleyball for
fifteen years
competitively and socially. He began playing volleyball as an eighth
grader. During high school, he played for Circle City Athletics in
Indianapolis. During college, LaLiberte was a two year member of Ball
State
University’s club program. While attending Ball State, he coached at
Daleville Middle School and for the Wave Volleyball Club in
Muncie, Ind. In the fall of 2004, he began coaching Booker High
School’s JV
team. In
the fall of 2005, LaLiberte was named the varsity volleyball coach at
Booker
High School. He coached Booker's varsity program for two years before
moving to Miami to complete his master's degree. LaLiberte is currently
the Assistant Sports Information Director at Barry University where he
serves as the contact for the women's volleyball team. |
